As a science teacher, I can focus the students’ attention to how God created the universe with order and precision and beauty. When discussing genetics, I teach how DNA is a code language given by a super intelligent code giver, not by chance or mistake. When studying the solar system, we can discover how the conditions for life on Earth were prepared so perfectly, so that we sentient organisms can flourish as God’s caretakers. We can be confident in God’s power to fulfill His purposes, as we take what we learn to benefit mankind and make more disciples of Christ.

Christian education teaches students more than just the basic facts. We are building lives and answering the important questions that count for eternity: “Who am I? Where did I come from? Where am I going? What is the meaning of life?” The Bible is the foundation for all of our beliefs.

It helps me to remind them: you are made in the image of God… you are to be His representatives. How are you representing Him and also helps me to remember as I am teaching… I am teaching fellow “image bearers in training”

As I plan, I need to keep these things in mind. Just teaching the subject matter is not enough. Take time to reach your students on a deeper level.

I need to be intentional and purposeful in my teaching. Relating everything back to God and His creation, His purpose.
