Being a math teacher, I often respond to the question of “when will we ever use this math in real life?” with the response of, some of you may. There may be NASA workers or engineers in this room that will use this math daily. Others will never use this math again after high school and that’s okay. There are other skills we are learning than just math such as problem-solving, learning how to make yourself sit down and do something you may not want to do at the moment, not giving up when things get difficult, learning to humble yourself enough to ask for help, communicating your work well, etc. Some of them already know what their God-given calling is, others are still figuring it out. My hope is to prepare them for whatever that calling may be with the Lord’s help and wisdom.

The best possible life we can life is a life that is consistent with his design for humans and his intention for YOU. We do this in myriad ways, and each person’s contribution ought to be aligned with the provision that God has made for him or her and ALL are important.

Praise them when they do something good, and encourage them to pursue their interests. Ask them to start thinking about their future and how they can glorify God in their chosen profession later on.
