How do you currently encourage your students to find their God-given calling?

I teach music and encourage the musically inclined students to pursue music. When students show me skills in something else, I encourage and praise their work. I encourage my students to do things they enjoy.

I do from time to time discuss what they want to do as a career, and I talk about God’s calling. I have not been proactively and purposefully implementing that into my curriculum or lesson plans. I will implement that this year as part of the biblical worldview.

During the course of the year, we have journal prompts or open discussion on topics like, what do you like best about yourself, what is something you really like to do and feel like you are good at, what kind of job do you think you want to do when you grow up? These type of self evaluating inventories can help students identify the unique gifts and attributes that God has given them. How they are uniquely different than other people in the course. Some are inclined toward music, some toward little children, some love animals, some are compelled to help or save peoples lives, and so on. These are all God given and we should celebrate each one.
