How do you feel about developing biblically integrated units/lessons? Overwhelmed? Excited? Hesitant? Explain.

I do feel a little overwhelmed at times. I want to be able to model Christ and some content areas seem a bit more difficult than others for integration.

This is exciting, but at the same time no easy task. Teachers have so much to do in a day, that adding to lessons might seem overwhelming. Thinking about it one might ask, when can we even fit that in? We’re already not able to teach all the curriculum given in a year. However, teachers in Christian education also know that they are called into the ministry. Each day will come with difficulties, but putting God at the center is of utmost importance.

I am excited and overwhelmed about developing biblically integrated units and lessons. I do agree that it will get easier once I get the hang of it and I see the absolute necessity for it. I want my students to have God’s truth permeate their education and this passion will need to motivate me when I’m overwhelmed.

Looking over some of the other participants’ responses, I see a lot of people saying they are excited. I am not one of them. I find unit development to be unexciting and overwhelming. It takes a lot of time and I find it hard to justify. I tend to think of the chapters in my curriculum as the units. I’m thinking I may be able to use the Eight Guiding Questions within the chapter format and improve the biblical focus that way. I know I need to improve in this area.

I am excited about developing biblically integrated lessons. After going through these two courses, I look forward to implementing what I have learned. Additionally, I look forward to making sure every lesson I teach impacts the heart, head, and hands from a biblical worldview.
