I find it a little bit challenging because as an ESL teacher, I do not follow my own curriculum. I support the classroom teachers and fill in gaps in students learning. So as far as developing a unit, I have never done that. I do have some ideas of how to integrate the Bible into a few lessons I have taught, but I am not sure how to do what I think is being asked of me here.

I am excited to develop Biblically integrated lessons. However, it will not be easy and I expect my first few units to have flaws. I am sure that the lessons will get attention from parents, and hopefully they will be supportive.

I am trying not to feel overwhelmed at the idea of developing Biblically integrated units. I have taught elementary art for the public school system for 18 years and I have boxes of lesson plans with the objectives, materials, and process already organized. I am slowly trying to integrate Biblical concepts to as many of those plans as I can. That is not hard to do.
I am teaching middle and high school for the first time ever. That alone has been a little overwhelming, but I am taking it step by step to develop units and lessons that meet my objectives and include as many Biblical concepts as possible. -
I am probably one of the few teachers who really enjoys sitting down and mapping out my year and making lesson plans. Mapping out my year and aligning the standards I need to teach helps me feel so organized and prepared and I am able to begin each unit with confidence in what I need to accomplish in teaching. I am blessed that we have curriculum that naturally integrates biblical standards already so I don’t have to start from scratch there. I also have found because I have mapped out my year and I have lined out what is the most important in each chapter it makes my daily lesson plans easier. I don’t plan day by day or even week by week (though I also review at the end of each week and adjust as needed). Instead I plan a whole chapter of daily lessons at one time and this saves me so much planning!

I feel excited about developing biblically integrated lessons/units. I can make the music about God in all ways. I can teach notation, history, rhythm, pitches, and etc. with God as the focus.
