How do you feel about developing biblically integrated units/lessons? Overwhelmed? Excited? Hesitant? Explain.

I’m excited because it is only going to get me MORE into the Scriptures and God’s word and that can only be of benefit. One reason why I decided to teach at a Christian school was to help strengthen my relationship with Christ. It can’t come out of us, if it’s not in us.

I have a lot of feelings. Overwhelmed, anxious, excited, and curious. Overwhelmed because as a new teacher, I still have so much to learn and to add on one other thing seems like being a teacher might be too much work for me. Anxious because I have no idea where to start. I wish there were recorded lectures I could watch, example lesson plans, and especially how to integrate the bible into computer science. I’m excited because from what this course has been teaching me, I would love for all my lessons to teach students how to be servants of God, to love others, and for them to learn about God as much as or more than computer science. Curious too because I became Christian later in life, so I was never exposed to a Christian school until just last year. I’m really curious to see how even in the classroom that is not a Bible course, how students can learn about God and learn how to be like Christ.

I find the process of mapping very overwhelming. I have a great appreciation for the teams public schools have the go through and set up the maps and unit expectations for their teacher teams. Doing it solo the last few years has been rather harrowing.

I feel confident in developing biblically integrated lessons because I understand that the only way a student can survive spiritually in this world is to know the truth of God’s word. Everything we learn in this life is connected to the plan that God has for our lives. Students need to know academically how to live because it is connected to their career choices. Students need to learn spiritually because it is connected to both their career choice and life journey pass their career.
