My plan is (during the first week of school) to discuss how we should act in a classroom… I want the students to tell me how we should act and how we treat one another. As they point out various characteristics, I will link them to one of the fruits of the spirit, until we have covered all of the “fruits”. I plan to have fruits cut out, labeled with the traits of the fruits of the Spirit. Once they’ve chosen and colored a fruit, I want to display it on a tree that I’ll have ready on the wall. Throughout the school year, I’ll refer to our tree when needed. During a lesson, I can just as easily refer to one of the “fruits” when we are studying characters in a reading assignment.

For my 3rd grade students I plan on using discussions after reading books with them and focus on character development within the text.
