The Big questions of life can always be back up by scripture which is infallible. The questions give us a firm foundation to stand on and to know that you are speaking the truth in love. You can’t go wrong by using scripture like, In the beginning God created the heavens and earth . . . then He created male and female. This is the solid word of God and no deviation.

As a math teacher, I believe that understanding God gave purpose and design to the universe can be applicable when teaching students the logic and processes of math as a reflection of his character. His character is one of order. Answering these kinds of questions, philosophical ones, makes me think about how I can teach mathematics from a biblical prospective.

I look for ways to introduce parts of the bible into as many Art lessons as I can. I have tried in the last year while we were on Zoom (for Covid) to introduce as many different ways to do that as I felt led to do. I really liked when I could find a short video or book to get my point across.

My answers to these big questions influence not only what I say and do, but my expectations for what my students should say and do. When we truly believe that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139), and that we are “created in Christ Jesus to do good works…”(Ephesians 2:10), our perspective about ourselves and others changes. We are precious in God’s sight. He has planned for us to do incredible things in His name. Remembering and expressing this confidence that God has in us can change my attitude and my students’ attitude which fuels our motivation. We should not be settling but striving to do our best both academically and relationally in order to bring glory to Him.

My answer to the big questions of life greatly influence my role as an educator because I teach science. If I do not have a biblical answer to these questions, my students will be bombarded with the science of the world, and could be confused with what is true to believe. Also, it helps me to guide my students to know Christ and to follow him. It helps them to have answers and to defend their beliefs as they grow.
