It makes me more intentional about teaching students in the way of Christ through Christ’s wisdom, so they can find meaning in God because that answers their big questions of life.

Confronting life’s big questions helps us uncover the truth about our own identity. This discovery is crucial because it empowers us to better understand and support others.” “But I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail, and you, when at last you have come back to your true self, must strengthen your brethren” Luke 22:32 Weymouth New Testament

I know that I am made in the image and likeness of God, and so are my students. This has a positive impact on how we will relate to each other and interact with each other in class, and with parents, as well. I know that my purpose and calling is to teach, lead, and assist my students academically and in becoming more solid Christians and citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven, and that each of my students has a purpose and calling, and gifts from God, that need to be developed and encouraged. This is exciting to watch as students blossom and step into who they were created to be! And both my students and I know that God is our loving, awesome, and all-powerful father. We are sons and daughters of the Kingdom of Heaven.

All of this makes my role as a Christian educator a great joy and pleasure, and also a weighty responsibility to transmit to my students Biblical wisdom, a Biblical worldview, and to always be an example of how to be a serious, loving, and Christian, walking that out with each decision in life. We cannot be perfect, of course, but walking out the Christian life in front of our students, and being an example for them, is a beautiful thing. We can model and explain how we checked ourselves in an unkind impulse, or apologize if we made a mistake, show being charitable in myriad ways. They are always watching us!

I think it helps to remind me there is a greater purpose for me in this position than I know. God has directed me down this path to serve him. I need to pray and be listening to what he is asking me to accomplish in his name.
