I know that the babes in Christ in front of me or around me are my brothers and sisters in Christ, in need of the love and support that Christ showed his disciples. I have discussed the big questions in life with my courses from grade 7-12 and it is never dull. It is also a great way to connect with them, but it also helps them connect to each other since many come from different churches. How I see my students and how I govern my own actions is largely predicated on, “the big questions of life.”

It makes me better equipped to love the kids because I know they are royalty. I see their worth as much more than academic ability.

I believe that all people always do what they do because they believe what they believe. Our beliefs manifest themselves in our actions, even if we are not always able to consciously trace the line from a belief to an action. Therefore I am convinced that the more true my personal answers to the big questions of life are, the better I live. This has implications across all aspects of my life, but certainly includes my roll as a teacher. The way I treat my students, the way I go about educating them, the content that I choose to cover in course, all of these decisions have some connection to what I believe about the big questions of life.

How these questions are answered will affect my philosophy of meaning, worldview, and life in general. It is essential that I understand the answers from a Biblical/Christian point of view.

It is important to keep at the center of my teaching that we are teaching children for their eternal life. The Bible is truth no matter what, and when we can’t find the answers that is where our faith steps in. We trust God even when we don’t understand everything fully.
