We know that our needs are met and we can trust Him to take care of us.

If we understand the role of a shepherd, that is the protection, care and leadership that he brings, then we can see that Jesus, as the good Shepherd, does the same for us.

Jesus being our good shepherd, helps us to understand to keep our eyes on him always.

With Jesus as My Shepherd, I feel safe and secure and know my needs will be met.

Jesus, the Good Shepherd, is Lord. And the Lord is MY shepherd. I shall not want.
I think of my comfortable home with running water and sanitation, mode of transportation, roads, etc. and it makes me appreciate even more when I read Psalm 23 that the good shepherd wrote it in conditions far more harsh than what I experience. Yet, He still promises to supply our needs as we trust in, and rely upon, Him. This lesson was helpful for me to understand the Psalm 23 context so much better.
