The Lord teaches us to ask, seek and knock . And He promises us that if we ask it shall be given unto you ,seek and you shall find and knock and it he door shall be opened . But all of this must be according to His will and for His purpose which causes us to check our motives for the pray . Is it only to ask for material things or is it to have a closer relationship with Him and to do His will .

In our lecture notes it talks about the Lord’s Prayer, and the lesson it gives about how to pray. My grandmother taught us that the first part of a prayer is acknowledging that He is our center, everything we have and can look forward to is because He loves us. Her second lesson was to look around and see other’s needs before our own. Jesus wants us to care for His creation, which means going above our needs to see the “bigger picture”. My personal prayer is in the final moments of our daily time together, when I can ask for guidance, support, and sometimes a miracle. Jesus offers us the world and we can ask for it, the answer may not be in the form we want, but it will be what we need. I trust Him and accept his answer in whatever form it comes.
