In Matthew 6, Jesus teaches that we should go into a quiet space and share our hearts with God. God knows what we need even before we ask, but He desires to fellowship and have an intimate relationship with us. Our prayers don’t need to be long and drawn out, but simple and heartfelt. It’s not about the quantity of our words, but the quality of our words as we pour our hearts out to Him.

He provides an example of how we should pray, by teaching us the Lord’s prayer. He gives us specific areas that we can focus on and change to meet the needs that we are requesting now. He shows us how to pray, not only for requests, but also to lift the name of God high so He can be exalted through our prayers.

The Lord teaches us to ask, seek and knock . And He promises us that if we ask it shall be given unto you ,seek and you shall find and knock and it he door shall be opened . But all of this must be according to His will and for His purpose which causes us to check our motives for the pray . Is it only to ask for material things or is it to have a closer relationship with Him and to do His will .
