How does Jesus teach us to go deeper in our asking when we pray?

In our lecture notes it talks about the Lord’s Prayer, and the lesson it gives about how to pray. My grandmother taught us that the first part of a prayer is acknowledging that He is our center, everything we have and can look forward to is because He loves us. Her second lesson was to look around and see other’s needs before our own. Jesus wants us to care for His creation, which means going above our needs to see the “bigger picture”. My personal prayer is in the final moments of our daily time together, when I can ask for guidance, support, and sometimes a miracle. Jesus offers us the world and we can ask for it, the answer may not be in the form we want, but it will be what we need. I trust Him and accept his answer in whatever form it comes.

We shall be close to Him….by asking we are close to God’s presence.

God wants to hear our prayers as we have a dependence on Him. He gives us an example in the Lord’s Prayer. The motives of our hearts are important. We can ask big requests of Him because He is able to answer them.

He models for us by using the Lord’s Prayer. This shows us to prioritize and focus on God first, because prioritizing our own needs.
