Jesus wants us to pray to be with God, to know Him and hear from Him. To pray God’s heart not just for our needs. To pray for the things of God and for others beyond our personal concerns and needs.

He gives us assurance that the Father gives when we ask. He teaches us to focus on God first – in acknowledging His greatness, in desiring that He be honored, in desiring His kingdom to come and His will to be done. He teaches us how to pray for provision (daily bread), forgiveness, and protection (from temptation).

Jesus wants us to pray from our heart, sincere cry to God. He also taught us to address our prayers to our Father in heaven, then focus on God’s glory and will be done before bringing our needs to him. God knows how to give good gifts to us when we asked.

Jesus teaches us to come before Him as little children because children know that they are dependent and they have great imagination, they think big and believe they’ll get what they ask for ;that’s the way we should approach God.
