By giving us the Lord prayer as a blueprint, we can learn what is important to God and it helps us to understand how to pray in His will.

He taught us the Lord’s Prayer. This was the ultimate example that Jesus gave us for our own praying.

He illustrates the power of prayer when he taught how to pray through the Lord’s Prayer. It begins with our Father, highlighting the relationship between God and us his children…and continues with the hope of answers and the fact that He is always present!

By praying the Lord’s prayer Jesus shows us that going deeper into God’s kingdom his will his plan his purpose will be far greater in giving us direction for our need as well.

He shows us by first addressing the Father in an affection tone, then acknowledging the perfection of God. We are task that God’s will (not ours) is done on earth. We are encouraged to ask for forgiveness of our sins, with the reminder we should forgive those who sin (cause us pain) against us. We are encouraged to ask for our daily needs, and protection from evil. The prayer takes in both the natural and spiritual aspects of daily life. And Jesus’ example of praying often brings prayer into our daily lives versus occasional practice.
