Gospel: Luther had explained that the nature of the Gospel as a proclaimed Word of God. Gospel shows that through His grace and mercy of God shows the proof of Christ’s death and resurrection.
The word of God created us now comes to kill us as sinners. Luther called the Word of God as it kills an Opus alienum “a strange works, a foreign work, a work God doesn’t what to to do. World of God that structures human existence. Sinners have sinned against God, have earned the wages of sin is death. The Law comes to to kill the sinner, to those who reject it or defy it. The Gospel brings that sinner to repent and through Christ has his or her sins forgiven by Christ. The Word brings us the reality of new life in Christ. His Word of of gospel, His opus proprium , recreates the forgiveness of sins. This external Word fixes the assurance of believers.
Luther had experienced trying to find a way to God through his feelings as well as through his works. So Luther realized that through God’s mercy and grace , all we had to do is accept Christ into our hearts and lives, ask for forgiveness of our sins, and trust and obey God’s Word.
