I’ve always had a longing to get back to “the roots” and study as in the days of the pilgrims. I’ve always admired the penmanship of days long ago and knew something was missing in the modern-day progressive classroom. I see the traditional classroom lacking and am grateful to be part of a school that cherishes and acknowledges God as the author of all things. It influences me to not take it for granted and to refer to the bible as often as the opportunity arises, sharing with students that all of our subjects begin in The Good Book.

The roots of the educational system in the US creates a level of understanding of where the education process was and where it is heading. It gives me a greater appreciation of what we take for granted today in our educational settings and how we can honor those that came before us by making sure that we continue to value parts of their foundation. Such as, having biblical truths integrating into our education, and valuing the reading and writing process.

It is important for the students to know, understand, and experience the beginnings of America and the educational beginnings. It influence my view of education in that is one of the reasons why I am in Christian education not public school education.

I have experienced almost every variety of education that is available in the US. With this varied experience comes the realization for the need for good Christian educators who are called to teach.

I believe that it made the country as independent and as God driven as it is. Our founders were taught with the Bible as the basis for learning reading and understanding the world and it meant that we have the freedoms that we do. If they had been taught to read in just any book, it would have been very different.
