Understanding of the roots of US educational system is very important because it shows how the Pilgrim decides to teach their children in the way of the Lord using traditional approach. I concluded that the educational system in the U.S. was basically the foundation of biblical principle.

Recognizing history fosters an appreciation for the balance between knowledge acquisition and critical thinking, while also highlighting the educator’s role in shaping both character and worldview.

Understanding the history of the educational system is valuable because it allows us to build upon the foundation that has already been established. I realize that the educational system in the U.S. was founded with a biblical foundation. The Pilgrims set out to educate all their children (not just first-born sons or those entering the ministry). That means that traditionally, education in this country was rooted in the Bible and open to all.

The pilgrims came here escaping religious persecution and chose to teach their children in the ways of God’s word. As time passed and the industrial revolution took place, science and technology became more important, and now a public school curriculum does not include Biblical instruction, but instead a set of standards that must be taught. This lesson talked about a traditional view and mastery, focusing on very specific things that must be mastered.
