Yes, in my early 20’s I began to know the Lord for myself. After a few months of Bible studies and spending time in the Word for myself, I found Jesus. A SAVIOR who came, bled and died for me. A Savior who has promised to prepare a place for me. A Savior, friend, and my Rock. When I found Him, Or rather when He found me, He opened my eyes. This world is not our home. These days are fleeting and as a teacher its my job to remind my students- THIS IS NOT OUR HOME! Focus on the Kingdom or God and don’t waste a moment on the material things that will pass away. Invest in each other! My calling is to point to Christ daily and encourage the young adults in my day to do the same thing.

While there has been some churches that I have attended where the focus on serving God tended to focus more on being part of a specific church or parachurch ministry, I have always felt that as a Christian we are to be used where we are in doing what we are doing,

I was raised both Southern Baptist and Full Gospel (Pentecostal). This gives me a firm grasp of the fundamentals of my faith and a healthy appreciation for the working of the Holy Spirit and use of the spiritual gifts. Both taught that my calling was given to me by God. However, my Baptist upbringing instilled in me that there were certain callings that were not appropriate for women. Being a pastor for instance was prohibited for women in the denomination. However, I have read the Bible for myself and understand that there are no specific rules regarding gender and calling. Any calling from God is a good thing and is to be fulfilled by the person whom is called period.

Growing up as a Pentecostal, I was taught that people in leadership had to be respected and we had to be submissive. I believe observing the examples I had growing up shaped me to be the Leader God has called me to be. It taught me to be obedient to His calling and not ask questions. If He called me He would surly equip me to do the task laid before me.
