How has your denominational or theological background shaped your understanding of calling?

8 June 2022 My thoughts here regarding how ‘denominational’ or ‘theological’ background shaped my understanding of a ‘call’ ( or the process of calling) come some from My Elementary Religious Education as a Lutheran faith child, to that recently of a Student of Faith within a Roman Catholic Co-Ed College Environment. My initial teachings exposure was centered around what had been taught was the doctrine of ” Apostolic Succession”–i.e. Those ‘Ordained’ ( Set on purpose towards Christian Service)-through the Life and times of the Apostle Peter. I , in more recent times; have realized that one may be influenced to perform a ‘secular’ job/life first after High School/College; and then perhaps be ‘led’ –through the Holy Spirit and Recognition of Spiritual gifts by others; towards the “Ministries of either Word and Sacrament; or Word and Service.”
