Have you ever fasted before? What did you learn from doing it?

Because we are giving up something we really love to communicate and be with him

By fasting we are declaring that we are willing to give up food (or something else, e.g. the internet) in order to concentrate on seeking God. It is a way of declaring God’s worth and confessing our love for Him.

Food is comfort, using the computer, surfing the web, meat, social media, being on the phone, computer games, chocolate and anything else that you can put before God. When you take time to fast from your comfort foods and items and recreation and spend time with God you are telling God that He means more to me (you) than any comfort or pleasure that we can find, that moves God’s Heart. There is a song that speaks to me of where I want to be with God and that’s In the Garden.

We are putting our daily need of food behind us, and concentrating on God and others.
