Deleted User04/22/2024 at 07:56You are getting rid of the distractions in life that keep us from focusing on God. In our minds we are constantly thinking and planning the next thing like food, entertainment, stuff we like to do. Fasting is a way of spending concentrated time with God.

Deleted User03/18/2024 at 10:53Fasting requires that we “give up” something important to us. So, we spend this gained time in prayer. This process allows us to grow closer to God. Our focus shifts to deepening our relationship with God through fasting. We are tangibly letting God know that He is the most important thing to us. We are consciously making room in our busy day just for additional quality time with and for Him, thus showing and telling God that He matters more to us than anything else.

Deleted User03/13/2024 at 17:41I have fasted in the past, but went about my day as ordinary, only not eating. I then felt that this didnt make sense and have not fasted since. I am seeing that when fasting, it is like taking a vacation with Jesus to spend time with Him away from even the routine of eating. I have many concerns that I have prayed about, to no avail. I am encouraged to fast about these concerns, only now all of me fasting, not just my stomache
