Yes. It was reminding me that my dependance is on God and not the choice foods and distractions of this world. It kept me aware of others and I prayed for them during this time with better clarity.

It is setting yourself up to hear and get deeper with God. Fasting is giving up something to get deeper into God’s word. It is a time to praise God and pray for your needs and the needs of others.

Fasting is a way of telling God that He matters because it shows that we sacrificed something to only focus on Him and His Word.

Fasting is a time, when you deprive yourself of food or whatever is a distraction for you, to meditate on God’s Word get closer to Him in your relationship, and get direction from Him.

Placing your focus on God during the fast is the purpose of giving something up. I need to remember that and not just give something up for the “suffering.”
