We have different parts of our body that carries different functions but they are one. One part of the body can not function without function of others parts. The same in the universal church, might look different but one body in Christ.

The church is like a body because it has many different parts that work together for a united purpose. Different members have different gifts and they come together to form a unified whole.

All members have the Holy Spirit in dwelling within them, and each gift is given by this same Holy Spirit. Even though we come from different backgrounds and have different giftings, this diversity brings us together into one body, one faith, one hope, one Lord, one baptism, and one God and Father of all.

The unity of the church is maintained by the diverse members who work together, support each other, all while striving for spiritual maturity.

All parts of the body need to be in working order to function properly and fulfill its purpose. If that is not so, the church is handicapped and struggles to fulfill its mission. Obviously if the body a had abundance of arms and no legs the body would be severely handicapped.

I think like a body with diverse organs and limbs, the church comprises individuals with distinct personalities, backgrounds, talents, and spiritual gifts. Just as different body parts serve different functions, members of the church utilize their unique gifts to contribute to the overall well-being and functioning of the church community. Diversity brings richness and strength to the church. Each member’s unique perspective and abilities contribute to a more vibrant and impactful church body.
