How is the word “infuse” related to biblical integration?

Biblical integration and infuse are related in that God’s word is part of everything. This isn’t a surface glimmer. This is integral, part of the framework. It is part of the molecular structure of everything. John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” We can’t teach about God without the Word. It is the structure or framework of everything.

The word infuse reminds me of drinking water. We can infuse water with a variety of different flavors but its very difficult (if at all possible) to reverse it to get it back to normal drinking water. In order for educators to accurately represent biblical integration, it has to be infused IN us. We can’t pour into the students if it is not first in us.

Biblical integration has to be infused in the curriculum and not separated. If you remove God as the central part of your lesson, you are in essence removing the most integral part.

The word “infuse” to me means to be so connected that nothing can separate you from it. This is how God wants us to be. God wants us to be so infused in His Word that nothing can separate us from Him or the Word. When I am learning God’s word, I am learning so that I can take it with me where ever I go. I want God’s word to be integrated in my life that whenever I speak, it is saturated with God.

The way Dr. Black describes it, it should be so intertwined in every subject and lesson, that it cannot be picked out. It shouldn’t just be a prayer or Bible verse we slap on our lessons after they are completed, but something that it thoughtfully woven into our lessons.
