It’s important to cover the established standards of the curriculum because they will be needed as the student advances. However, it’s also important to be flexible in how those standards are taught. The student should learn critical thinking and problem solving to have deeper understanding. Also, everything needs to be connected to the biblical worldview.

It’s important to remember that curriculum follows current social values and it’s important to teach scripture in all subject area so that students learn God’s Word to compare/contrast what the current social values are.

Basing my lessons and assessments off of standards will be a starting point, but teaching beyond that to show my students the WHY behind these standards will be just as important. My goal of for students to learn and grow throughout the process of meeting the standard, not just checking the box that they completed with a satisfactory mark.

Standards gives us a common goal to achieve. But with that said we need to be able to determine what is that best learning style for each student. Know how to use the various orientations will help you denote what works best for each student.

I have to have guidelines and standards in my classrooms. Those these standards and guidelines learning can occur and the future results will be productive citizens in the world. More importantly, disciples of Christ and the Word of Christ is spread.
