It is always helpful to know the roots of a curricular model and the thought behind it. Sometimes if a certain process is all we know, we tend to not question it. It can be so ingrained you don’t even think to ask if there is another model. Stepping back to ask the view of the student and the teacher in the curriculum is an important evaluation to see if it lines up with a biblical worldview.

This lesson challenges me to keep the Bible foremost in my lessons – to really commit to biblical integration. It also challenges me to make sure that I am meeting the academic standards that are set out for our school.

This lesson focused on the importance of standards. It also focused on the history of education. It is important to help students know this history so they can realize that Christian Education is far from an anti-intellectual activity. This should be taught in the classrooms.

I need to start looking at everything I teach and integrate a biblical worldview into all of my lessons, not just Bible.

Teaching international students is challenging because of their comprehension level. I increasingly prepare lessons to encourage English literacy. For example, after reading a passage, students must answer questions designed for them to think critically, instead of just checking boxes. To incorporate the process/mastery method, I can offer students the ability to “test through” a topic. It’s possible they had already learned the material in their previous school.
