Being familiar with and teaching standards is important, and can help your classroom maintain a level of measurable excellence. At the same time, being in tune with your students’ needs and what will apply to their individual lives is important.

I want to take a class on the history of education that includes an honest accounting of the progression of Christian thought on education. I attend a secular institution (which used to be a Christian one) and this kind of information is conspicuously absent. In short, this lesson has piqued my curiosity. This might be a fun inquiry to engage with students.

The information about the Geneva Bible was new to me, so that is of mention in a classroom. The fact that some elements of curriculum orientation are similar to a Christian worldview and some are not could be used in compare/contrast and thinking critically about Scripture.

I should remember that our goal is to raise our students to follow Christ and to infuse lessons with Biblical truths to counter the influenced in the world which are contrary. I am not planning to move away from a traditional method of teaching while still containing structure and assessment.
