This lesson has strengthened my resolve to make disciples of my students for when they may eventually go to public school and continue to integrate the biblical worldview as much as possible.

I want to incorporate the Bible more into my lessons. Especially knowing that education began with a biblical worldview, I want to work on bringing this back.

It’s very interesting to dive into history and explore the ways that education was taught with an emphasis on reading, writing, critical thinking and the exchange of ideas. In my classroom, I strive to offer students opportunities to express themselves in a variety of ways and to think outside the box of the standard curriculum.

Being familiar with and teaching standards is important, and can help your classroom maintain a level of measurable excellence. At the same time, being in tune with your students’ needs and what will apply to their individual lives is important.

I want to take a class on the history of education that includes an honest accounting of the progression of Christian thought on education. I attend a secular institution (which used to be a Christian one) and this kind of information is conspicuously absent. In short, this lesson has piqued my curiosity. This might be a fun inquiry to engage with students.
