How should we listen to a journeying reality, no matter how ugly it is (Galatians 4:19)?

We should listen with the aroma of grace that attracted the person to trust us with their story. Not shocked or disgusted, not with disappointment or disdain. Just listen for the whisper of the Holy Spirits leading.

We must sit with people and listen. We must suffer with them and have empathy. In childbirth, a woman labors even in pain. She endures the pain because she knows the outcome will be joy. We must have the same spirit as we listen.

We should listen knowing our hearts are self-deceptive and deal with our own interior world.
