How will the concepts discussed in this lesson impact your teaching?

I hope I take with me how important my job is. I am not just preparing kids for the here and now, but for eternity. I love how Mrs. Black ended the lesson. When we are having a bad day, we can start over and redeem the day. What a wonderful way to show the kids how God is redeeming for us every day, and He has already redeemed our future. Talk about Amazing Grace!!!

I love the idea of purposefully using the word “redeem” in the classroom and showing examples of redemption.

I can get discouraged when one of the bad days pops up. I need to remember this is part of it and not to let that effect my approach. Reminds me a lot of when I played baseball. You could prepare all you wanted to but sometimes when you went out to pitch and execute your plan it did not work out. The key in teaching and baseball is how do we reflect Christ in our response and what are we teaching our students by the way we come back the next day.

I think that information towards the end about redeeming the day is something I need to embrace more. Being willing to start a course over, throw out a quiz ,etc. Sometimes I focus too much on the execution of materials that I miss the big picture.

I particularly liked Dr. Black’s discussion of our two-fold calling. It’s helpful to think about our calling for our time on earth and our responsibility to help students find their calling on earth. It serves as an important reminder to redeem the time and to walk in the good works that God has appointed for each of us.
