How will the concepts discussed in this lesson impact your teaching?

The concepts in this discussion impacts my teaching in a couple of ways. One, it puts an importance of what I am doing in the present because of what is to come in the future. And secondly, it impacts my teaching in that I need to be an encourager for students to discover their gifts and talents.

I will never shy away from speaking the truth in love, guiding through discipleship, and offering grace to my students.

I will try to look for opportunities to show redemption and fulfillment in my classroom.

I will try to be more open to what the children say about what they see and experience. Just because I don’t hear it or see it does not mean it isn’t there. Adults need to understand that children can often hear God much more clearly than we can with all our beliefs and assumptions about life.

I have always believed that God uses children mightily. This lesson encourages me to allow more time and discussion for hearing from students about how God speaks to them. It also opened my eyes to using the word “calling” with students. I hear that word often as a pastor’s wife, but I haven’t really thought about using it with 10 year olds. God does have a plan and purpose for them and I think the lesson encourages me to find ways to integrate more of this topic into my teaching. I think it was also a good reminder that eternity is what matters. As teacher’s we can be consumed by all the small details of a day. I can let some things go and model to students a mind set on things above not on earthly things.
