This lesson was a good reminder to include the eternal perspective in lessons and in discussions throughout the day and year. I will aim to keep that foremost in my planning and thinking.

I will continue to emphasize how the Holy Spirit was given to us as a gift and that he helps guide us and direct us every day. We can “hear” God’s voice in many ways and it is important to normalize this with children when they are not so quick to disqualify themselves from “hearing”.

Everything I teach has relevance. No matter how small it may seem. BUT the most important things I can teach my students is to know God and His blessings by living it as much as I teach it. My living testimony, by me walking out my worldview, my philosophy, I am showing my students the blessings God has showered upon me and my family and them as a result of my faith and relationship with Him. My job as a teacher is to provide my students with truth and the tools to carry out whatever God’s plan may be for their lives.

It has reminded me that in every lesson and interaction I am not just preparing them for life after graduation, but eternal life as well. I need to be prayerful and mindful about how I do this in my lessons so that it is intentional, although sometimes spontaneous lessons are beneficial as well. It has also rejuvenated my passion for teaching. At this time of year, it can be easy to get burnt out, which is almost where I was, but I have been encouraged and reminded that I am here to do God’s will and glorify Him. I will continue to ask for His guidance.

It will help me continue to encourage students to look to God’s word at all times in their lives.
