How would you respond to someone who says that Jesus Christ was a wonderful teacher but nothing more?

I would not get in a debate with someone, but would challenge them to read the gospels and pray for them. There is no other religious figure who fulfilled the number of prophecies that Jesus did. The word of God is historically proven as authentic, reliable, and true.

I would share my testimony with them and Scripture that supports that He is much more than a teacher. This would hopefully result in a discussion that ultimately changes their views, or at least begins to lead them in the right direction.

I would be curious and ask to understand more about where they are coming from and why. I would ask them additional questions if they were inclined to engage in a discussion.

I believe sharing my personal testimony of my undeniable walk with the Lord would be the best response.

An excellent question. I would have to reread Liar, Lunatic, or Lord by CS Lewis. He presents and wonderful argument regarding this philosophy. I would also ask the individual if they have looked all that Jesus said and claimed. If he is a mere teacher, how could one claim that He is NOT Lord when he says it himself? This is the reason the people of His home town of Nazareth attempted to kill him. How could someone who is merely a “wonderful teacher” make such a claim? I really would like to hear their argument in support of their claim, if only to know where they have gone astray in their thinking. It can make a wonderful teaching point, an opportunity to redirect their thinking based on what Jesus has said about himself, as well as all the witnesses who followed him.
