How would you respond to someone who says that Jesus Christ was a wonderful teacher but nothing more?

If someone stated that Jesus Christ was only a teacher and nothing else, then I will enlighten them on the word of God that stated “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6 and John 3:16.

I would lead him or her to John 3:16 and mention that there is no one else in the world who sacrificed their life, so that all men could be saved. I would also point them to other Scripture where Jesus did not find it ‘robbery to be equal with God’ in Philippians 2:6. In essence I would use Scripture to confirm His Deity.

On a personal level, testify to the experienced reality of my personal relationship with Jesus. On a historical level, point out the legitimacy of the great volumes of testimony. Of course, I would point out Jesus’s claims about himself. How can he be a great teacher if you claim he lied about himself?

I would disagree with them and show them the scripture John 3:16. He was not just a wonderful teacher but He was the Word, the creator, our savior, the Son of God. If truly He was just a wonderful teacher then every other thing would be a lie which it isn’t because God is not an author of confusion nor is He a liar.

I would have to disagree with them that Jesus Christ is only a wonderful teacher. He has given his life for us and he is speaking for God since he is the Son of God. He is our guiding light.
