How would you respond to someone who says that Jesus Christ was a wonderful teacher but nothing more?

I would ask the question that Prof Black did. How can that be true. If he claimed to be the Son of God and was not how could he be a “good teacher?” That would mean he’s teaching things that are untrue, which is not what a good teacher does.

He was not only a teacher, but He was the Son of God sent to take away our sins.

I would tell them that yes, he was a great teacher…but what it was that he was teaching others about! And tell them that we should be doing the same!

I would tell them the story of Jesus and how he was also our redeemer, he was also our model for a sinless life, and he was also God.

I would point to scripture and illustrate how things in Scripture can also be seen in historical accounts of the time. I can discuss the things that Jesus did that cannot be discounted as being solely a wonderful teacher.
