How would you respond to someone who says that Jesus Christ was a wonderful teacher but nothing more?

I would sent them to the Bible to see what Jesus claimed about himself. If the Bible is not true , then Jesus was a liar. One must start with the premise that God’s Word is true.

It isn’t true. If Jesus Christ was just a wonderful teacher, Christianity would not be the religious movement that it is. It would have been a cult or just a group of people who believed some of the same things. The miracles would not have happened and we would not be worshipping him 2000 years later. Jesus is the Son of God and saves us all from our sin and gives us eternal life.

I would tell them that Jesus was a wonderful teacher but so much more. I would point out that His teachings and life led him to the cross where he willingly laid down his life. He claimed to be God’s Son, sent from God and the One who is the focus of faith in having a relationship with God.

I would explain that Jesus was either the son of God (like he said) or he was a mad man. He cannot be both. I would then continue with a Biblical discussion about who Jesus said he was. Sharing truth in love.
