How would you respond to someone who says that Jesus Christ was a wonderful teacher but nothing more?

I will tell them to read the Bible carefully and then their opinion will change. I will tell them that Jesus Christ is the son of God and he came to save us from our sins.

If he was a wonderful teacher, then his claims of being the son of God would be true. If they are not true, he is a liar and therefore, not a wonderful teacher.

I would say that Jesus was either the Son of God and each person’s path to eternal salvation, or he was deceitful and led many astray with his lies.

Jesus himself said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father, except by me.” in John 14:6. One who argues that Jesus was only a good teacher, must believe that He was also a liar because they do not believe him when claimed to be God. Good teachers do not lie.

The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church. Over and over again early converts and Apostolic Father’s were willing to lay down their lives for Christ. It would no be reasonable to think people would do so for only a great teacher. No, Indeed Jesus is the Son of God. He is the Logos. Come down from heaven to reconcile humanity back to a Holy God.
