How would you respond to someone who says that Jesus Christ was a wonderful teacher but nothing more?

Jesus was the fulfillment of the law because he claimed to be the son of God and proved it in a myriad of ways through the miracles he performed, the Old Testament scriptures he fulfilled, and ultimately his death and resurrection that he predicted and foretold would happen. If he was only a good teacher, none of these things would have come to pass. Yes, he was a good teacher and we look to him as the ultimate example of what a teacher should be, but he is so much more in that he is our messiah king who suffered and died for our behalf so that through him we would have hope for eternal life.

Saying that makes Christ a liar because he spoke so often of his role in our existence and his divine purpose on earth. Viewing Jesus Christ as just a teacher opens the door to interpreting his sermons in an entirely different way that does not correlate with a Biblical Worldview.

The problem with this statement is that if Jesus was just a good teacher and did not follow through with anything that he said he would do, that would make him a hypocrite. No matter what Jesus said, everything that He stood for would be false and not be based on facts. If Jesus wasn’t the savior then he was a liar, hypocrite, and narcissist. Not making for a good teacher.

I would say, but he is so much more. There is a need for the person to see that they have just scratched the surface of the relationship with God. More research and church is needed to build the relationship past just the teacher.

I would respond with all the miracles he performed and that without him we would be nothing.
