How would you respond to someone who says that Jesus Christ was a wonderful teacher but nothing more?

The CS Lewis response is about as on-target as one can get. He said he was more than a teacher–that he was the Son of God and Savior. So either Jesus was liar, and not a wonderful teacher; or he was lunatic, and not a wonderful teacher; or he was Lord, and not only a wonderful teacher, but the Savior of the world.

When you have reached the bottom of life and you look up to see Christ’s hand pulling you up, when you finally get serious about living and realize you are in need of a Savior, when you finally come to the realization you are in need of Christ!!! When you finally know your are lost without Him, you will then realize He is much more that a feel good motivational speaker.

I would say that they would benefit from doing more research critical thinking on the things they read about him.

The claims Jesus Christ makes about Himself make this conclusion inaccurate. He claimed to be God. It is impossible to accept the teachings of Jesus without accepting His claim to be more than a teacher–the Word made flesh. For, He came to do His Father’s business. His Father’s business was to save the world from perishing through His only begotten Son, Jesus. This is what He preached and the blessedness of a life lived under His rule.

yes, Jesus was a wonderful teacher. But he is so much more than that. He is the savior of all as long as you repent and accept him into your life.
