Discussing current and relevant topics that may pose an issue, and how to handle them. Continue to keep m ay pray request box available that allows students to turn requests they may have but do not want to share in front of the class.

1. Let them hear my story and how God works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purposes. (Romans 8:28).
2. Teach them how to discern truth and apply it daily.
3. Encourage them with the history of the saints who endured recorded in the Scriptures and in modern and contemporary times.

I think one of the best ways to teach is to model. While we use discernment as adults, I think it is important that we share appropriately some of our struggles so that our students can see what we do to handle those struggles. We pray and we go to God’s word when we fans struggles and our students should see us doing that. Also, we can share about the specific things God is challenging us to do as we pursue Him in our lives. The students need to know that we walk the walk and not talk the talk. We begin with prayer and sometimes we need to just stop and pray. Sometimes the class has questions and we need to pull out our Bibles and read what God says.

Just as I attempt to train up my own children, I try to do with my students. I listen to their concerns and offer what advice that I can to them. If they are concerned about jobs or college I tell them what I know and tell them where they can go for more information. Listening to their concerns from a position of caring is often times more assistance than they receive from other places or form home. Many don’t get the attention that they want. Families are busy and sometimes the teacher is the only one that they feel they can talk to. Many students have fears about the future that they don’t share with others. They keep their thoughts and fears to themselves. By listening to them and giving them the opportunity to share those concerns and fears helps to releave some of that burden that they feel they are under. Once you have given them some positive advice and direction they often seem to be more relaxed and less fearful of their future.
