Have sharing sessions in my classroom, where my students can share their struggles and experience so others can be blessed and encouraged. Remind my students of the different scriptures that will encourage them of God’s promise to be there for them in times of trouble.

I can share my own struggles when appropriate and how I overcame them through my relationship with Christ. I can also provide a safe place for students to discuss their struggles with me and/or their classmates so we can encourage and mentor each other using God’s word. Giving scenarios and evaluating them through a Biblical perspective and the appliance of Scripture is another way I can help them prepare.

I can give them real life scenarios where they have to respond to a question or an idea that is clearly against the Word of God. I can also talk to them about experiences I have had or witnessed and ask them for their input on how to respond.

I want to make sure that students understand that to struggle is normal. It’s unrealistic to think that we won’t face trails and tribulations, and I want to help students build resilience by being grounded in God’s Word. I also want to continue having honest and frank discussions with them.

I plan to foster more discussions in the classroom that address the struggles /challenges of life, by giving students time to share things that they are struggling with and different ways they are working through them (giving other students a chance to also encourage each other in their faith as they listen and share). I also plan to share my own story and struggles, when appropriate and fitting- as well as study the stories of people in the Bible who have struggled- to show students how to overcome (hardships) in Christ.
