Identify one or two practices you could implement to further nurture your students.

To better nurture my students, I could be more intentional about standing at the door and welcoming students as they enter. I could also eat lunch with students in the lunchroom or allow a pair to come to my classroom for lunch once a cycle.

One practice that I would like to implement to nurture my students is to have a special morning greeting for each and every student. I also want to work on having lunch with 2 students, maybe once a week or so. That way each student will get some extra time to just talk with a friend and teacher.

I love the idea of the first few and last few … welcoming them into the classroom by name. I want to be connected to their talents in a way that I can ask them questions about something from the previous day or weekend. And then to not teach right up to the bell, but have at least 60-90 seconds to wrap up, answer quick questions and let them know I am available if needed!

One thing that I want to implement this coming school year, in order to nurture my students, is give weekly praise reports. I want to at least call or speak to one to two parents a week to acknowledge their child’s achievements. I would also like to end the day acknowledging the kids as I do when they enter the classroom. I can either do a closing circle or a review at the end of the day and highlights a few things that I’m grateful to have witnessed or experienced. If not at the end of the day, be willing to interrupt course for a bit to give thanks the moment I see someone doing or saying something kind to another, etc.
