Take a couple of minutes at the beginning of course to recognize accomplishments and to pray with them about things that are important to them

1) Referencing scripture as the discipline is administered so that they know it is with God whom they must deal. 2) Praying with them and then following up to pray over the issue later so that you are not only praying when they are in trouble.

One thing I could do is make time to discuss proper behavior after the students reflect on the improper behavior that has taken place.

There are plenty of things that can be implemented. I would like to learn some from experienced teachers. What the pros and cons are of certain ideas- bringing in technology vs keeping lessons very simple, if certain schedules work better for students, what to offer students that may struggle with learning or with other students.

– intentionally seek to interact with them more outside of the classroom (extracurricular events, boarding weekends, etc)
– look for opportunities to openly encourage students when they are following directions, doing what needs to be done; give more positive feedback to families on a regular basis.
