    In those times I want to be alone, I need to reach out. I know kids love my courses and coming to my course during their free time, and I need to cherish this time and honor them.

    I can greet my students as they enter the course with encouraging words like, ”this is the day that the lord has made”! And we are going to conquer the day as we work together, I am here for you, you can do this etc.

    One practice that I could implement would be to call each student by name to welcome them to my classroom.

    I can also do a better job of being aware of the ending time for course. Sometimes, I find myself wrapping up quickly without having time to recap.

    One way I could help nurture students further is to have them start journaling and being open to discuss what they are dealing with at that time. Another way I can help nurture is to spur each student on academically by setting goals and to help them reach those goals.

    I’m hoping that my schedule will be more freed up this coming year to where I can pull a few students in at a time and have small group conversations to check up on groups of students throughout the year.
