On Monday, I’m starting an Afterschool Gaming Unplugged club where I sit and play games with some of my students.

I wish I could improve having one-on-one instruction time with a few students of mine who really need the individualized attention. This would allow me to reach each one and cater to their needs.

In the past I have rotated by choosing different students to stay in the classroom and to eat lunch with them. It was always a telling time and a wonderful time of getting to know each child as an individual and hear about their lives outside of school. Another way to nurture is to make sure I’m not being a push-over, but applying the rules and expectations equally to all students. This helps to earn their respect and build a trust with the students.

I often get distracted in the morning I don’t always get checked in with my students. I’m also naturally disorganized, I’m working on it.

I could be more attentive during lunch. I could take more time to hear their many stories they want to share.
