One thing I want to implement is a simple system to acknowledge students’ birthdays, whether it be by having pre-made cards that I add their name to or by jotting down a quick “happy birthday!”

As they enter the classroom. ask if they would like a hug, handshake, or high five. On mondays, have each student talk about their weekend or what is on their heart.

Always finding something positive every day to say about each student daily.

I loved hearing about, and hope to implement welcoming each student by name into my classroom and saving a few moments at the end of each class to end with words of affirmation and positivity.

I like the practice of making sure you compliment a student that has been disciplined at a time when positive behavior has been witnessed. Finding a way to pull a student that may seem apathetic to my subject into being involved.
