I love the idea of helping students identify and talk about deception. Getting them to pinpoint areas of deception in newspaper articles is a great start.

To help prepare my students for attacks to their Christian faith, I can help them identify the scientific facts that back up what scripture says. There is science and scientists who have research and facts that supply proof for what the Bible states. Just as in a Case for Christ the author looked into the history and science to disprove Christ, he actually found that he proved Christ’s existence.

I need to encourage them to remain committed to being in the word every day. I need to equip them with tools for apologetics.

One way we prepare students is through discussions in course and teaching students to disagree well. I always emphasize resisting the urge to name call, degrade or respond in anger because that will never help us be heard. Instead, remain calm and truly listen to what the other person is saying. We also need to have knowledge of scripture and be willing to pray for the individual.
