I try to remind students that Christ directed us to take up our cross and follow Him. This can mean that trial, temptations, tribulation and persecutions may come. It is not an easy thing but Christ has given us the power to do what He has called us to accomplish.

We can discuss current issues that are age-appropriate from a biblical standpoint. As I stated in the previous question, when the students know and understand the word of God, they can rightly discern between soul and spirit. “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

One way to help students prepare for attacks on their faith is by having them listen to popular attacks and practicing ways to respond. This can be done via a course debate, essay, etc. Students can also read articles opposing their faith and create a rebuttal. You must be careful to lay foundation before doing this.

There will be people that question each of us, including our students, and some may try to pull people away from the faith. By teaching our students that God is real and interactive with every part of our lives and by incorporating a Biblical worldview in every subject we teach, we can lay a foundation for our students to stand firm when attacks do come. They need to have a foundational relationship with God. We can also pray for them to stand in Christ confidently.
